Snowpaw Life is the flower for which love is the honey Spottedpaw sat in the Apprentice's den, it was cold outside and the white tom had been trying to stay warm. Of course staying warm meant staying in the den. He curled his tail up around his body and huffed a little, watching as his breath turned frosty white in the air. He sighed and looked up outside of the den. Then he pushed himself up and stuck his nose out of the den, there was frost on the ground. He shivered and sighed. He wasn't used to this, sure he had seen frost in the past few days. But this was a shock for him, the cold, the lack of prey, everything. Maybe it would snow. He had always wanted to see snow. Slowly he stood up and walked out of the den, lifting his paws up carefully. He glanced over at the fresh kill pile. It was bare and he sighed, his stomach grumbling. He sighed again, and flicked his tail. If he were a warrior, he could take matters into his own paws and go hunt down some prey. But no, he had to stay in the camp like a good little apprentice and only leave when his mentor said he could. Sometimes he hated having to do as he was bid and go where he was told.

Snow was such a different thing to see, the last time he had seen it he had been well never. The thought occured to him, he had never seen snow. Then again the tom was only seven moons. It might have been fun to see as a kit, snuggled next to his mother's side in the nursery. Those were the days, the days when he had not a care in the world, the days when all he had to worry about was getting his father's approval. Nowadays, he had many things to do. He had training, doing apprentice tasks, and avoiding his father. Yes, the young tom had been striving for approval from his father, and when he had finally been acknowledged at his apprentice ceremony, Rookpaw didn't know how he felt about that. So now he chose to completely ignore his father, in hopes he would just go away. He still was conflicted about what to feel toward him, but figured staying away was the best best for now.
The black tom didn't know how well his pelt would fare when it came to hunting. He knew it was well suited for dusk, and even late night hunting. But the snow was different. His brother would have no trouble, even if Snowpaw was larger, he still had that white pelt. He had been told it was becoming cold enough to snow, and Rookpaw was actually quite excited to see it. The evidence of just how excited he was wouldn't be shown on his face, well possibly to a few certain cats, but only them.
Rookpaw watched his brother leave the apprentices den. He would have thought Snowpaw would stay in there all day to keep warm. Happy that his brother was no longer in the den, and free for conversation, the black tom raced from his spot and padded to Snowpaw. He had been trying to ignore his father and now that he had Snowpaw around, it was a perfect excuse. "Is the apprentice's den warm, or is it as cold as it is out here?" he mewed softly, barely looking up from the ground.

Snowpaw Life is the flower for which love is the honey Snowpaw looked up as his brother came running over. "Oh, hey Rookpaw!" He mewed happily, purring loudly. He loved being around his brother. "I'm hungry." he mewed. "But there's nothing to eat." he smiled a little. "Do ya think that our mentors will take us out to hunt, or train?" he mewed. "I would prefer hunting." He admitted, though he wasn't good at either. Then is brother asked a question. "Well, it's warmer in there. But it's boring too." he added. "Hey, I've got an idea. Let's go exploring, not far from camp of course." he added. "Just a little ways, it would be less boring that hanging out around camp. Maybe we'll even catch a mouse!" He grinned, his long bushy tail flicking. "Whadda ya say?" He asked, mewing happily. He stood up and headed towards the edge of the camp. "You coming?" he asked. He was pretty sure it would be much more fun outside of the camp than inside. And with his brother, well there would be tons of fun to be had. Much more than hanging around camp and rotting slowly.

Rookpaw was still a bit uncertain about how to act, even around Snowpaw. He had always been such a cautious kit, and he definitely knew what was right and wrong. But it seemed that when his brother had a suggestion, the little tom was powerless to resist. If Snowpaw was doing it, surely it was right. When Snowpaw mentioned about being hungry, Rookpaw realized he too was a bit hungry himself, but not enough to complain or say something about it. He just simply nodded his head. He was asking a bunch of questions, that Rookpaw had no answer for. He wished he could answer the questions, but it was out of his control if their mentors would take them hunting or training, or do anything with them. "I don't know, and I don't even know where they are." he murmured, looking up from his paws.
When Snowpaw answered his question Rookpaw thought about going in and testing it out for himself. Boring he could take, interactions with others? Not so much. And then his brother had come up with a suggestion. That sounded completely reasonable, just going a little out of camp. It couldn't hurt to stretch their paws a bit, could it? "I'm in." he announced, actually glad to be doing something with Snowpaw. It meant he wouldn't have to socialize with anyone else, or even think about anything else. He could just be himself, and not have to worry about his father. It was perfect and the black tom was glad it was suggested.
"Yeah, I'm coming." Rookpaw mewed, getting on his paws and following after Snowpaw. Surely there was nothing wrong with this, they were just going to have a little fun. And they had each other, so if something happened they wouldn't be alone. Rookpaw would never let something happen to Snowpaw, not while he was around. He couldn't stand it if something would ever happen to his brother, how would he be able to function?
