Pigeonwing (Father, NPC)
Mouse-ear (Mother, NPC)
Siblings
Dovepaw (Sister, Hedgie)
Description:
Slim, mottled cream and brown pelt, yellow eyes. Dainty paws and a long, thin tail.
Upon meeting Brownpaw, one has to wonder how such a meek little apprentice could ever fit in with stereotypical ShadowClan warriors. Everything about her, from her softspoken, reserved personality to her delicate frame scream that she is more kittypet like than anything else, or at least not ShadowClan material. Brownpaw has a very slim, dainty build, feminine and overall not very fierce looking. She has a rather long body, (at least she isn't small; that would make her look even more nonthreatening) and thin bones which give her a long, skinny tail and limbs. Her paws are small and delicate, still not used to traversing the pine forests of her territory, so they are often sore after long days of training.
Her pelt consists of a series of mottled brown and cream patterns. The brown, the source of her name, covers most of her body, from her legs down, her tail, her back and most of her face. Her chest is cream colored and she has a few small cream spots on her nose and forehead. Overall dark in coat color, she can easily blend into the forest at night, thankfully this is one thing ShadowClan about her.
Personality:
Reserved, Quiet, A follower to almost anyone, not one to ask questions, holds her opinions in to herself, bottles up her feelings often
Brownpaw seems to be quite the opposite of her sister Dovepaw. While they may have had different personalities as kits, maturing and becoming apprentices has made their differences more apparent. Dovepaw is bold and lively, but Brownpaw is quiet and meek. If either apprentice got the short end of the stick for the personality spectrum, it's Brownpaw. That's not to say she's a terrible cat, she's really quite sweet and considerate, never one to want to be on another cat's bad side. But the withdrawn, quiet part of her is more of a disadvantage than an advantage.
She is incredibly adamant about keeping her thoughts to herself. If that sweet little mind of hers ever comes up with anything potentially contradictory or offensive, she'll never say it. She's much too afraid of having someone get angry at her for what she says, so she never speaks unless it's something good to say. By the same token, she also keeps her feelings locked up. It's incredibly difficult for her to think that she's making other cats aware of her discomfort or unhappiness in situations, so she just doesn't let it show. This restricting personality trait may work against her in the future, in times when she needs to make her feelings known. Being respectful and obedient are desired traits for apprentices but they aren't so useful come warriorhood. Brownpaw wishes to be more bold and noticeable like her sister, because Dovepaw has more of the traits that are useful for being a warrior, but at the same time she can't imagine trying to change the way she is. Being quiet for her is so much more natural and easy, after all.
History:
Pigeonwing and Mouse-ear had been best friends since apprenticehood and into their moons as young warriors. These two young cats were close, however they were driven apart when Mouse-ear began a friendship with a kittypet named Acasia. Pigeonwing wasn't jealous, per se, but he disliked kittypets and that conflict caused the two warriors to drift apart. For several moons they didn't speak, and it wasn't until they were senior warriors that they at last made up. Acasia was found dead after being hit by a monster, and Pigeonwing helped his old friend through her grieving. Not long after, Mouse-ear moved to the nursery, pregnant with his kits.
She had two little she-cats, named Dovekit and Brownkit. Growing up the two were very close, still friends with the other kits but even more with each other. They had completely normal kithoods, getting into a bit of trouble here and there but how is that not normal for kits? Even at a young age, Brownkit seemed more softspoken than her sister and didn't like to do anything without Dovekit by her side. Now that they are apprentices and developing separate personalities, they seem to be drifting apart. Brownpaw is saddened by this and she wants to reconcile with Dovepaw, yet is busy with training and learning the ropes of apprenticehood. Maybe there is a chance for them to be close friends again, just not now.

She had known this day was coming. And she was excited, she really was.
So why did she also feel sad?
Brownkit peered out of the nursery as she heard the Clan leader call the meeting. She timidly looked around the clearing as she saw cats appearing from their dens and gathering at the center of camp, and then her eyes landed on the powerful looking form of the leader, Longstar. She would be the one to determine the she-kit's mentor for her next several moons, and Brownkit wondered who it might be. Maybe one of the strange, yet intriguing brothers, Crowclaw, Ravenflight or Swiftfoot? She hoped it wasn't Foxclaw, the intimidating, dark ginger tom. Mossflower would be nice; she was kind, even if a little strange. But what if it was Rainfur, the Clan deputy? Brownkit, though pensive as she was about this whole experience, felt a bit of excitement at the idea of being apprenticed to the deputy. He was a focused, hardworking cat, not to mention the deputy! She spotted the dark furred tom walking across the clearing and watched his lithe form for several moments, looking away just before she felt her ears start to grow hot. There was no way she could be apprenticed to Rainfur, he was probably much too busy to be a mentor!
Suddenly something pushed past Brownkit and she was nearly knocked over until she managed to catch her footing. It was a good thing, too, because she didn't want to mess up her freshly groomed fur by being knocked onto the dusty ground. By the time she saw who had nearly shoved her over, she realized it was her sister Dovekit, rushing out of the nursery and toward the leader, practically bouncing like a rabbit with excitement. Brownkit smiled a bit as she watched her beloved sister, wishing she shared her enthusiasm. As the last of the cats gathered and watched Longstar begin the meeting, Brownkit quietly made her way over to Dovekit and mewed, "Good luck, I hope you get a good mentor."
Then before she realized it, she and her sister were being called up. The two walked forward side by side, their eyes gleaming in anticipation as they awaited the ceremonial words. And in that moment, Brownkit realized what had been bothering her. The two sisters, standing so close together, their pelts brushing as they shared this life changing moment, were distant. There had been something off about their relationship recently, as if they had been growing apart and suddenly were not as close as they once were. Dovekit seemed nearly ready to burst out of her fur in anxiousness, but Brownkit did not feel the same. What would happen once they were both apprentices? Would they go back to the way they were or would they just continue growing apart? Was this normal, unusual, or was this distance between her and Dovekit all in her head?
Dovekit was called forward first, given the name Dovepaw and the mentor Bluetail. Even though she was feeling sad, Brownkit also felt a flash of happiness for Dovepaw. She had a good mentor and she knew she would make a good apprentice. Whatever happened, Brownkit hoped that they could both become warriors at the same time, like they were both becoming apprentices now. She hoped for the best. After the brief moment of contentedness, she looked back to Longstar and awaited her name and mentor, ready for whatever would come.
