Leafwhisker sat very still without moving. She took shallow breaths and narrowed her blue eyes. I must be close by now. With very gentle paw-steps, she moved farther into the underbrush toward the Moorland. She was very happy it quit snowing before she decided to come out hunting. In truth, she hated Leaf-bare. She enjoyed the cold, but simply hated snow which was wet and annoying if you weren't careful where you placed your paws right.
She inhaled deeply taking in all the different smells. Hint of rabbit, but a few days old. She sighed. Leaf-bare was also the hardest to find pray. She looked up at the sky, there were grey clouds overhead, but it didn't seem like it was gonna snow right away. She sighed with relief and gave her tortoiseshell pelt a quick shake. "At least, the weather isn't disappointing me." The she-cat muttered quietly outloud.

The landscape was empty, devoid of life. At least, it appeared that way...or would have, had it not been for the black and white shape padding on quietly through the lonely moorland. Smudgeclaw was alone, for now, on his own little hunting excursion. He'd been hunting on his own lately, not really desiring to put up with any overly pompous toms who felt that their skills were better than any other cats'. He knew where his skills lay, but he didn't go around sharing such information.
Thus, his problems were solved, when he hunted alone - or with a she-cat. He grinned at that thought, as he kept going. He paused for a moment though, spotting a dappled coat not too far off, and his grin spread. He began heading that way, appearing as though he was following a scent.
Within moments, he had reached Leafwhisker, his face now set in a look of concentration. He glanced up, appearing surprised, as he said, quietly, "Oh, hello, Leafwhisker. Didn't expect to see you out here. You found the rabbit scent too?" He moved closer, sitting down next to the tortoiseshell with a friendly gaze.

The tortoiseshell she-cat slowly looked over as Smudgeclaw's black and white pelt padded up toward her. "Hello Smudgeclaw." She gave him a small smile. "Yeah, I was following the scent it's just to bad the scent is stile...Rabbit sounds really good." She meowed. She brushed the snow from her pelt. "So what brings you all the way out here? Were you wanting to be alone or wanted to see a friendly face." She joked with the younger tom. She got to her paws and stretched. "Well, would you like to come with me then?"

"Mousedung. I was hoping to at least bring back a skinny rabbit. Leafbare is the worst," he said with a sigh. "Oh well. Maybe I'll get lucky later then." Smudgeclaw looked over at Leafwhisker. "Well, I came out here to hunt, and to think, but seeing a friendly face isn't all that bad either." He grinned at her, his green eyes warm and friendly, as usual.
"I'd love to come alone, if you'd be okay with that. It's always nice to have a companion," he said, stretching as well, before he too stood. Smudgeclaw flicked his tail at Leafwhisker. "Maybe we'll have better luck together. After all, two sets of ears, eyes, and noses are better than one." He chuckled.

"I don't mind at all actually." Leafwhisker meowed to Smudgeclaw. Then Smudgeclaw flicked her with his tail. She froze for a brief second, then relaxed a bit. She was one of the oldest warriors in WindClan, but she was very inexperienced with being around toms. She spent most of her time focused on being a warrior and mentor to Tawnypaw, not being a friend or mate.
She felt herself shiver; she wasn't sure if it was because of the now falling snow or Smudgeclaw's friendly gesture. She decided it was the second one. Even though it was very cold out. She let out a soft purr towards him. "Two cats are better then one at hunting in Leaf-bare." She agreed, then gently moved out of his way. "After you, young Smudgeclaw." She grinned as she brushed her tortoiseshell tail across his shoulder.
