Now And Again | Animated Series

I've long been mulling the idea of drawing an animated series. It would be animated by myself, of course, but I would need other people to be voice actors for the various cats in question. The story that would be played out is one many of you won't be familiar with, but some will. It was written by Yoko, but edited by myself so to better-fit the requirements for it to become a reality.

Everything will be undergoing some changes while I sort things up, but meanwhile I'll just post this to see who might be interested. If you'd like to try out as a voice actor, go ahead and record a clip of yourself (chirbit.com is a good site for quick sound recordings online) and PM it to me. I've posted a sample of the script down below, so you can use any of those lines as an example. The longer the better! Don't do something so short I can hardly hear what you sound like. x3

NOTE: Because I wanted to keep a gender equality in the series, several of the important roles are toms. So when trying out, please send in a clip of your best male voice in addition to your other clips. =D

The Setting;

This story takes place in the old forest, back when the Clans gathered at Fourtrees and visited the Moonstone. Although all seems peaceful, one cat has plans that could destroy the Clans forever, and they aren't alone in their ambitions. Snaketail, a young warrior of ShadowClan who was an apprentice less than a season ago, is chosen by StarClan to gather together a group of six cats and put a stop to the nefarious plot brewing at the heart of the Clans. But what can a newly-appointed warrior and his ragtag group of friends possibly hope to accomplish?

Okay! Change of plan, guys. I have started writing a completely new script, with most of the same characters, but a different story. The character and setting info is all in the first post, but this is where the script will be going.

ALSO! For everyone who sent a voice clip to me, I apologize profusely, but could you do a new recording from the new script? All of the old voice clips on chirbit seem to have stopped working, so I'm going to need new ones if I'm going to cast you guys into your specific roles. =/

And so, without further ado, please enjoy what I have so-far written of the new story; Now And Again!

PROLOGUE

[/font][/center]

Nighttime casts a deep stillness over a remote part of the forest, where gnarled trees block out the weak light of the stars and clinging mist chokes the air near the forest floor. The sounds of crickets and frogs permeate the night air, but nothing can be seen moving... until a dark, feline shape darts out into the open, moving quickly through the sleeping forest. So deeply shadowed is the cat that nothing of its pelt colour can be seen, and it continues on, hurried but wary, through the night. Eventually it reaches a small clearing and stops. Another figure is revealed in the darkness, one that is smaller than the first.

Smaller Cat: You kept me waiting, Specklepelt. Did you get lost in your own territory?

Specklepelt: (Sniffs) Hardly. But Crowstar required my presence, and I couldn't get away without being noticed.

Smaller Cat: (Smiles in the darkness) Well, we wouldn't want to attract notice, would we? Now, tell me. How are our friends in ShadowClan faring?

Specklepelt: (Smiles slyly) Our numbers are growing steadily, despite the shortage of prey that leaf-bare brought us.

Smaller Cat: Or perhaps because of it.

Specklepelt: (Smirks) Quite possibly. That Crowstar fool doesn't realize what's going on right underneath his own nose...

Smaller Cat: Then the preparations? (As he speaks, the cat rises to his paws and moves silkily towards Specklepelt) I grow tired of waiting...

Specklepelt: (Willingly twines with the other cat's darkly seductive form) Almost complete, my leader. My only leader. In a moon, we will be ready to act.

Smaller Cat: Most pleasing. But we have other things to take care of before then. Regretfully, we must part for now... but keep alert for news from me.

Specklepelt: Always.

With this, the two cats separate and split off in different directions, Specklepelt returning the way she came and the tom disappearing into the undergrowth. But neither cat sees the lithe form of the one who had been watching them all along.

PART I

Alone in the chill grey surroundings of the late leaf-bare swamp, the watching cat paces on his own path through the mud and peat. He is obviously deep in thought, and troubled by what he has seen. However, so deep in thought is he, that he does not notice the presence of another cat sitting nearby until they speak. He looks up and sees a grey cat with stars embedded in her fur.

Darkfang: Snaketail.

Snaketail: (Stops, then manages in a stunned voice) Darkfang! W-what are you-

Darkfang: (Annoyed) Snaketail, focus. (Voice calms) You witnessed something dire tonight.

Snaketail: (Sobers) Specklepelt. I wouldn't have conceived such treachery from her.

Darkfang: But treachery has come, whether you expected it or not. Snaketail, listen to me, because I will only speak once, and I have something important to tell you. (Her eyes seem to glow with the light of prophecy) Great darkness blows from across the forest, a shadow to blot out every star, so that even your Clan will be blind. You and five others must gather to fight it, because if you do not, the forest will fall to a darkness deeper than night.

Snaketail: What darkness? What is Specklepelt planning? Who are the other five, and how will I find them? Darkfang, I must know more-

Darkfang: (Interrupts fiercely) I can only tell you this! There will be a powerful fighter, a hunter and a queen, a cold warrior and a cat who dwells in memories, and runs from them. Some will come to you, others you must find yourself. Gather them and prepare, Snaketail! The future of the forest depends on you...

Snaketail: (Sadly) Darkfang...

Even as she speaks, the she-cat fades away and disappears, leaving the tabby alone in the forest once more. In that way that StarClan has, he now knows no more than he did before, except that the conversation he witnessed poses a very real danger for every cat in the forest.

The following morning, cats are up and moving about in ShadowClan's camp. In one shaded corner of camp, voices can be heard, muffled in the darkness. The scene reveals three tabby cats sitting and talking in hushed voices. One of them is Snaketail.

Snaketail: Darkfang said there would be a powerful fighter and a cold warrior. I think she must have meant you two, for there are no two others who I would trust more to help me do this.

Twistedclaw: (grinning viciously) Count me in, brother! It's been too peaceful for my liking lately. Besides, someone has to take over that treacherous deputy's job, and I'd say the cats who stop her sneaky plot have a pretty good chance.

Snaketail: ... Lizardeye?

Lizardeye: (neutrally) Of course, Snaketail. But are you certain are up to the task?

Snaketail: Why, brother, I'm surprised you would ask such a thing of me. When have I caused you reason to doubt me?

Lizardeye: Darkfang died only short moons ago. Perhaps... your devotion to her affects your judgment.

Snaketail: (Lizardeye and Snaketail seem to share unspoken words, and Twistedclaw looks away) No, much as I wish it were otherwise, Darkfang is gone, and she will never return. But she told me that the whole forest would suffer if I stood by and did nothing, and that I cannot abide.

Lizardeye: (blinks) I didn't expect any different. In that case, we have much to do if we are to be successful. Firstly, we still do not know what Specklepelt's plans are. And there are still three cats of importance that we have yet to find...

The scene fades out and fades back into the prone form of a lone cat sleeping inside the warriors' den. Tightly curled, the sleeping cat twitches and trembles, letting out small mumbles of distress as dreams torment their mind. A voice is heard, narrator-style, as the camera zooms in.

Brindlepelt: Every time, it's the same dream. (the cat flinches in her sleep) I'm caught in a memory that I swore I had put behind me. And I know that nothing I can do will change it. (more trembling and flinching. The cat wakes up, opening deep blue eyes as her body slowly stills) The dreams have been coming more often now. I thought they were going away, but it seems they're just getting stronger.

Brindlepelt: (slowly gets up and exits the den, then looks up and whispers) When will it end? Perhaps it never will. (eventually looks back down) Enough dreaming. A good hunt will clear my head.

The cat exits camp and heads out into the swamp, hunting on her mind. She spots a squirrel and begins to stalk it, however on her final pounce it evades her, and both make a beeline for the ShadowClan/WindClan border. The she-cat follows the squirrel out of a clump of bushes and appears in the midst of a strange gathering of cats.

Brindlepelt: WindClan! ... Foxfur? Shrewfang? Why are these cats on our land?

Heathertail: (sighs) Of course your Clanmates would choose now to wander in, Shrewfang. I told you we should have met on WindClan land.

Firepool: She is lovely, though. Are you sure she couldn't be turned?

Shrewfang: (sharp) Can you be serious for once, Firepool? We'd better take care of this now; Specklepelt wouldn't be happy if she starts spreading rumours.

Too shocked for words, Brindlepelt backs away and attempts to run back to camp, but Shrewfang leaps forward and the two go down grappling. The scene fades out with the other three cats moving in to surround the fighting pair, so that there can be no escape.

Snaketail, Twistedclaw and Lizardeye are walking through the swamp, with Snaketail in the middle, flanked by his two brothers. They are somewhat near the border when Lizardeye stops, raising his tail for quiet.

Lizardeye: (calmly) There are voices coming from the border.

Twistedclaw: (narrows his eyes and grins) Trespassers?

Snaketail: It's possible. Let's go.

The three pad toward the noise just as the fighting breaks out, and start to run. They burst out of the undergrowth to see Brindlepelt in the middle of the four cats, struggling as two of them attempt to finish her off.

Brindlepelt: (struggling as Shrewfang attempts to sink her teeth into Brindlepelt's throat) Traitors!

All four cats attacking Brindlepelt glance towards the new disturbance, which allows her the opportunity to kick Shrewfang away and lurch to her feet. Exchanging a glance, the three brothers move forward to join in, but the four cats back off.

Firepool: (to his cohorts) If we continue, this will only get more complicated.

Shrewfang: (sneers at Brindlepelt and the three brothers as the baddies disperse) Don't even think about running to Crowstar with this. You have no proof of anything, and without that why would he believe you? A season ago, most of you were still apprentices.

Snaketail: (narrows his eyes) Perhaps not today, but we will be watching you.

Shrewfang: (already gone from view, her voice floats back from somewhere in the shadows) *laughter* You're the ones who should be worried about being watched...
