Finchnose I am not distracta- Oh look a butterfly! Finchnose padded towards the nursery. The young tom carried a pheasant he had managed to catch. The bird, like any of its species, had not left in leaf bare. This one had been quite easy to catch on account it had a broken wing. Unable to fly away it had quickly fallen victim to the tom's jaws. Now the bird was going to make dinner for his younger siblings. He pushed his way into the nursery and dropped it. "Hey every one." he mewed, beaming at his younger siblings. "Splashkit, Puddlekit and where is she?" he looked for his little sister, his favourite sibling. "And there she is!" He licked her behind the ears. "Keeping out of trouble?" He asked, grinning. "Not that it matters. Anyway, I brought you a little gift. Found it when I was out on patrol, it looks magic or something. It looks like it fell out of the sky, I'll bet it's a fallen star! I mean it shines enough!" He dropped the shiny crinkly ball of... something... in front of his sister. "Here you go, it's for you!" He paused. "Hey kiddo, where's mum?" he asked. "I don't see her anywhere..." He lifted his head up, then shrugged. "Hey Rainkit, why don't you show me that hunting crouch I've been teaching you. By the time you're a apprentice, you'll be way ahead of the other apprentices, I just know it." He grinned and batted the shiny thing away. "You can pounce on that."

Rainkit had not had a pleasant morning. She had been stuck in the nursery with her brothers and her mother. It was the worst thing possibly for this young four moon old kit. She wanted to get out, to explore. But no...she had been under watchful eyes. Sneaking out would be a bit harder today. So she had sat in the corner, watching her two brothers. Knowing that they dared not involve her, made her feel a little better. Nothing like watching your siblings make idiots of themselves, even if one of them really was an idiot. Oh well, not her problem. She had already smartmouthed several cats this morning, and it seemed she would be confined to the nursery forever! They deserved it, though. They called her little.
The gray little kit had perked up the instant her big brother had entered the nursery. She had immediately went to him and purred as he gave her a quick lick. "Me in trouble? Never!" she mewed in her little high-pitched voice. Her attention was instantly hooked when Finchnose announced she had a new present. Rainkit looked at it curiously when he dropped it, and then poked at it with her nose cautiously. It looked fun!
Finchnose then asked about their mother. She looked around and shrugged. "I dunno. She's been watching me really carefully all morning. I haven't been able to play any fun games!" she whined. Nodding to her brother's suggestion about the pouncing game she purred. It was better than doing nothing. And now she had someone to play with! She dropped down in the crouch like Finchnose had showed her, and wiggled her bottom in anticipation. With a mewl, the kit pounced on the shiny thing and carried it to her brother, dropping it at his paws. "Will you take me to catch real prey now?" she asked.

Finchnose I am not distracta- Oh look a butterfly! Specklestorm Don't make me come over there! Finchnose flicked his tail and gently batted it away again. "I think you need a little more practice before you can catch a mouse." He mewed, licking her ears again. "Then I'll take you out hunting. He purred happily and beamed at his little sister. "You'll make a fine warrior kiddo. I know you will." "Not on my watch." a female voice mewed. Specklestorm. "Rainkit is grounded right now. "She has to stay in the nursery until further notice." Finchnose sulked. "But mum!" he whined. "Don't you but mum me young tom!" she mewed putting on her serious face. "Now I have to take Spashkit out to make dirt. Behave yourselves. Fincenose waited until they were gone. "Come on Rainkit, let's go." he mewed. "I'm taking you hunting."

Rainkit's eyes bore into her brother, glaring up at him. He didn't think she was ready to catch a real mouse? But she had tried so hard! He was a warrior, and if he didn't think she was ready, then she must not be. She looked up to her big brother, he was probably the only cat she would listen to. The little gray kit was still as she was licked, it seemed to distract her for a few moments until he spoke. It was words she was waiting to hear. He would take her out hunting. She was going to get to go out of camp and hunt! The little kit let out a mewl of excitement, and she was no longer still. Her little body was soon bouncing around Finchnose.
And then, it went downhill. Her mother just HAD to show up. She felt herself shrink a little to the ground and inch closer to her brother. Now why was she grounded in the nursery again? Wait, she hadn't done anything too bad yet. The day had barely started, how could she be grounded already? Of course her mother had to take Splashkit out to do whatever. He was the 'special' kit. He always got Specklestorm's attention. Muttering under her breath the little kit waited for her mother to leave.
And then the grin came. Finchnose was taking her hunting! Who cared about what her mother had said! The little kit got on her paws and began bouncing again. "Thank you, thank you, thank you!" she mewed happily. "We going yet?" she asked, heading toward the nursery exit.

Finchnose I am not distracta- Oh look a butterfly! Finchnose smiled at his sister. "Come on, while Puddlekit's asleep." He mewed, slinking towards the entrance of the nursery. "Nocat's watching." he mewed eleatedly. He smiled and led his sister towards the exit of the camp. He knew they would get into deep fox dung for this. However no matter how much trouble they got in, it was worth every little bit. After all, it meant he was going to be spending time with his favourite little sister. "Come on, I know where the best fattest mice are." He mewed. "They're really really yummy."

Rainkit was one of those kits who didn't have to be told twice to come along. Especially if that meant going out of camp with Finchnose. She looked at Puddlekit sleeping for a moment before nodding and heading after Finchnose, keeping close to her big brother. It felt so good to sneak out of camp, to be her normal self. The little kit felt so free, and not confined. Who cared if she would probably be in so much trouble when she returned, it was all about the now moment.
"I'm coming, don't worry. I'm not missing this." Rainkit purred. His mentioning of food only made her more eager. She would find one of those mice and catch it. Maybe it would lessen her mother's anger if she brought her something to eat. What if her catch was so big she couldn't carry it? Her brother would probably help her carry it back, unless she was her stubborn self and refused help, leading to her having to drag it back due to pride. Rainkit would wait and see. "I'm gonna catch the biggest mouse ever! And no one will ever call me little again!" she purred.

Finchnose I am not distracta- Oh look a butterfly! Finchnose purred in amusement. "Maybe you'll catch a mouse as big as you are!" He said, squeaking like a kit. He walked beside her. "I don't think you're small." he said. "I mean not that the size of your body matters, you've got ten times the spirit of any cat I know." He chuckled. "And that's what's really important." He told her. "Now we want to go this way." He began padding away. (I'm gonna make a new post outside of camp)
