.:Description:
A very skinny, gangly young warrior, Tawnyfoot is quite a unique-looking cat. Her pelt, for one thing, clearly makes her stand out since it is so exotically patterned. It is a rich golden colour and marked with dozens of dark rosettes, speckles and stripes, patterned in an even more striking way than her estranged mother and handsome father's are. She is of average length and height, though her build is so slight that it makes her legs and body look very long. It's not that she doesn't eat enough, it's that her body grew very suddenly and quickly a few moons ago, but she still hasn't quite filled out yet. She is also one of those cats who never sits still and happens to be a very wriggly creature, meaning she rarely puts on weight anyway. Another thing about Tawnyfoot is that she is not the traditional image of girlish beauty. She is charming, for sure, but she is also a rough-and-tumble she-cat who doesn't mind her fur being a mess or her paws being muddy (on the contrary, she appears to relish it). She doesn't seem to grasp the concept of making oneself look pretty and tends to avoid grooming whenever possible. She does have her mother's eyes though, and they are a very warm, rich, burnished gold colour.
Tawnyfoot's look could best be described as quite wild. She is often madly dashing about and climbing things or otherwise scampering about as if she never left her apprentice days behind, thus making her seem like a young tom instead of a young she-cat. Her pelt is frequently ruffled and her paws caked in mud, but she doesn't seem to care, and that in itself gives her a kind of carefree, exhilarated charm.
Personality:
Tawnyfoot is a very quirky youngster and has lots of friends because she's always good-tempered and easygoing. She's playful and often high-spirited, more like a young apprentice than a young warrior. At times she is downright naughty, joining in with many practical jokes and pranks with her three best friends and all of them have spent a lot of time in the elders' den, groveling and serving out punishments. She can be quite unruly and rash and is really quite the little tomboy. This is mostly due to her upbringing, which was one where she had little to no female influence and befriended four young toms at an early age. Because of this, she acts like a tom a lot of the time, playing rough games and laughing at sometimes inappropriate jokes which would make other young she-cats blush. She's popular with the toms in the Clan because they like having a she-cat who does the same things as them, but only in a one-of-us, matey way.
Truthfully Tawnyfoot is completely inept when it comes to female charms and is secretly quite worried about her inability to flirt like her female friends do so often. She actually finds their flirtatiousness and vanity annoying and stupid, but at the same time she worries that her own unfeminine behaviour will mean she never gets a mate and kits, an idea which she really does like. Not altogether surprisingly, she's very good with kits and absolutely adores playing with them. They seem to enjoy her cheeky, funloving antics, and she in turn loves their playful spirit. Her problem is that she has no idea how to tackle the fact that all the toms of her age see her in the same way as they see their brothers, not as a potential love interest. The one most guilty of this is her secret crush, Spiderheart, one of her best friends and one of the toms she grew up with. He is a cat who most definitely thinks of her as a buddy who likes to play Flick The Mossball with him, completely oblivious to her crush.
History:
Once upon a time, there was a beautiful she-cat who lived in a big house not far from a little lake. She was the loveliest creature for miles around, and she had a wonderful life. She had a nice home with a red velvet bed and a bowl of food which was always filled up by the friendly twolegs who took care of her. There were four of them: a mother, a father, a little boy and a little girl. They all loved her very much and treated her like royalty, so Ocela was always comfortable and spoilt.
Meanwhile, not so far away from the nice house with the pretty she-cat, there lived a handsome tom. But this tom lived a very different life to that she-cat, because he was a warrior of the noble NiceClan, and he was one of the strongest, most rugged cats in the four territories. He could hunt and fight and swim and climb, and he had many admirers because he was so strong and handsome. These two cats were of completely different worlds to one another, but that didn't stop their stories from becoming entangled.
Those cats were Ocela and Leopardclaw, the mother and father of Tawnyfoot. It seemed utterly unlikely that they would ever meet, and even more unlikely that they would have anything to do with one another, yet somehow they did. It all started because one day, Ocela grew bored. Nobody had come to entertain her, so she ventured beyond her twoleg home and before long became very, very lost. It didn't take long for her to be discovered, however, because she had unwittingly strayed onto the territory of one of the four great Clans she never knew existed. One warrior had been busily chasing a squirrel all the way to the edge of the lake, and who should he run into but a beautiful she-cat in distress? Every tom's dream! And so the love story - and Tawnyfoot's - began.
Leopardclaw took Ocela back to his Clan and pleaded with the leader to give permission for her to stay. At first, she liked this idea, imagining being the mate of a valiant warrior to be very glamorous. The two had a quick, intense romance, and initially things were great. They were a proper couple in the Clan, though Ocela made no effort to actually do anything for it. Mostly she loitered in the nest next to Leopardclaw's, eating the best pieces of fresh-kill and making the apprentices fetch things for her. Unsurprisingly, the rest of the Clan's dislike for her grew fast. This lifestyle came to a sudden end, though, because unfortunately, Ocela was always a flighty she-cat and was never suited for a hard life in the Clan. As soon as leafbare's chill set in, she fell out of love almost as rapidly as she fell in. Soon, the former lovebirds began quarreling all the time, causing such drama that the leader told Leopardclaw to sort out Ocela or get rid of her.
Ocela sorted herself out in the end because she'd had enough of the rough life which suited her so poorly. She left Leopardclaw, intending to go back to her old life and forget all about her brief spell in the Clan. Sadly for her, there was one major consequence of her romp in the woods. She was pregnant by Leopardclaw. Much to her own dismay, she suddenly found herself a mother-to-be, but now she had no mate. Her twolegs were glad to have her back, but were astonished to see their beloved pet expecting. A few months later, Ocela had two kits: a tom and a she-cat. She named the rather sickly male kit Diego, but she never named the she-cat. This was because she had a plan for the little golden kit, who was the stronger one in the litter. She slipped out from her home carrying her, retracing her steps to the lake where she had met Leopardclaw. She took the kit to Leopardclaw, who had already moved on with another she-cat. He was quite astounded to find out he was a father and initially refused to take the kit, though Ocela angrily insisted, saying "It's half my problem and half your problem! Take it!".
And so Tawnykit joined her father in NiceClan. She was nursed by another mother in the nursery, and since her father was now busy with a new mate, he didn't want very much to do with her. Tawnykit never liked her stepmother, a beautiful but not very kind she-cat named Streamtail. She was irritated that some ghost from her mate's past would show up and declare herself the mother of his first kits, and she was very spiteful to Tawnykit, warning her not to cause trouble for her because she and her own kits were "Leopardclaw's family now". The cat who nursed Tawnykit was nice, but she had her paws full with her own brood of four rowdy toms. Consequently, a real mother figure was very much absent from Tawnyfoot's life.
Tawnykit was quite lonely at first because she had no true siblings, but as she grew she came out of her shell and made an effort with the four young sons of her foster mother. They were called Spiderpaw, Rabbitpaw, Rockpaw and Brackenpaw. By the time Tawnykit turned six moons, she was very much one of the boys. She was rambunctious, wild, free-spirited and loud, always laughing and joining in with their rough, boyish games. She liked being accepted into their group and became a very tomboyish cat. She was also quite naughty, thanks to her lack of parental guidance, and often got under the paws of the queens. They were all relieved when she became an apprentice and somebody else took responsibility for her.
Tawnypaw was a decent apprentice since she was so energetic and enthusiastic (probably - definitely - too enthusiastic), though she was always a mischievous youngster and rushed about with her four best friends, wreaking havoc in the apprentice den. Her mentor was a very old cat named Alderheart who already had eight sons, one daughter and four grandkits. He was truthfully quite horrified that he should have such a wild apprentice since he had a very traditional view on matters while Tawnypaw was rather more... modern in her take on life. She was wily, confusing her poor mentor with her double meanings and guilty innocence, and he was strict on her, but somehow, the pair of them became quite fond of one another. Alderheart became a sort of grandfather figure for her, something which Tawnypaw really did need. He told her off a lot and she complained constantly, but they blustered through her training and eventually, on the night of a new moon, Tawnypaw received her warrior name: Tawnyfoot.
Now a warrior, not much changed. Tawnyfoot stayed best friends with her old gang, now made up of Spiderheart, Rabbitclaw and Rockstripe since Brackenpaw had sadly died aged eleven moons. Alderheart went to join the elders quite soon after her ceremony, so she visited him a lot. She did also have a few female friends now, including her half-sister, Daisypaw. These were mostly young warriors who were quite friendly, but in Tawnyfoot's opinion, quite stupid. What she noticed quite poignantly was that all these she-cats were giggling and flirting and having relationships with young tom warriors, and Tawnyfoot grew worried because she hadn't ever looked at a tom except to gauge his battle-practice potential. She'd never had a crush on any cat and most certainly never had an actual romance.
This was true until she hit 15 moons. It was very bewildering for her, because it was almost like one day she woke up and her eyes weren't her eyes anymore. Suddenly she found herself staring at Spiderheart and feeling quite flushed, and she found herself daydreaming about the two of them. She was frustrated and annoyed and very jealous, because Spiderheart was handsome and had plenty of silly, pretty she-cats hanging off his arm, so she always had to act completely normally, never breathing a word of what she was feeling. And the same is true today, two moons later. Tawnyfoot is 17 moons old and still staring after her old friend, but he doesn't see her as anything more than "one of the guys". He likes her, and they spend a lot of time together, but he seems completely oblivious to the spark Tawnyfoot can't help but feel...
Quite demoralising, really.
