.: Description .:.
Large, sturdy build, brown fur, white chin, chest and front paws, yellow eyes
Despite not having pure ThunderClan heritage, Bramblepelt is the epitome of a ThunderClan cat. Designed for power, strength and endurance, he seems perfectly suited to living in the forest of his home. Bramblepelt is, most noticeably, a very large cat. He is big-boned and muscular to the point of being quite an impressive sight when first seen. He has a sturdy frame with wide shoulders and an appearance overall giving off the impression of pure strength. While he is quite powerful and is able to use his size to his advantage in battle, this means he is less gifted in areas of agility and speed. When it comes down to it, he is more suited to fending off ShadowClan or RiverClan opponents. If he ever faces a WindClan cat in battle, he is likely to have a difficult time because he simply won't be able to keep up with the nimble movements of those of the speedy Clan.
Bramblepelt is a rather handsome cat. Covering his muscular frame is a thick coating of brown tabby fur, made even more thick and protective as leafbare draws closer. It is a dark chocolatey shade, rich in color and shining with health and youth. Underneath his chin the fur is white, and a large patch of white fur continues down his chest and stops when it reaches his underbelly. His two front paws are white as well, and lastly his eyes are yellow in color.
.: Personality .:.
Oblivious, careless, arrogant, conceited, charming, flirtatious
Bramblepelt is a cat who seems to be blissfully ignorant and jovial. He has a 'selective memory', only acknowledging things that he wishes to be true and simply ignoring everything else. If any cat has a problem with him he acts as if he's either unaware or too stupid to realize it; if any cat rejects his company he's likely to just continue following and bothering them, claiming "they didn't mean it, I'm sure they enjoy my company because who wouldn't?" He is a very loud and outgoing cat by nature, speaking in a booming voice every time he announces his arrival as if every cat is overjoyed to see him. Because obviously, who isn't in love with this handsome, charismatic, conceited tom?
To say that he has a superiority complex would be an understatement. Bramblepelt thinks very highly of himself and is prone to shoving that fact in others' faces. He honestly believes that every cat should look up to him and respect him, and uses the fact that his brother Whitestar is the leader as an excuse to act the way he does. Never mind the fact that he's not all that bright and he's never actually done much to earn the praise he claims he deserves, he simply believes that since his brother is Whitestar that's all the reason he needs to be admired.
On top of being a rather lazy and carefree tom, he is also a big flirt. No cat is off limits to him, he has no reservations about meeting a pretty she-cat over borders or freely flirting with a taken queen. As much as he believes every cat should be thrilled to have him in their presence, he also believes that she-cats fall for him left and right. He doesn't take rejection seriously; instead of backing off he's likely to just keep trying, simply not knowing he should give up. Goofy, idiotic and annoying, it's a wonder this tom hasn't been chewed out by his likely irritated Clan mates. Perhaps it's only a matter of time.
.: History .:.
Bramblepelt may have been raised in ThunderClan and lived there his whole life, but it is not his only origin. In truth he was born to a RiverClan mother, part of an abnormally large litter that lost more than half of its members very early on. The three survivors, Whitekit, Bramblekit and Icekit, were taken to ThunderClan by their father when they were still not old enough to take care of themselves and given to foster parents Leaftail and Cloudclaw. Although they had been told that these cats were not his real parents and Hawk-kit was not his brother, Bramblekit had not a clue who his real parents were and so thought of them as his real family just as much as Whitekit and Icekit were.
Growing up, the four kits were the best of friends. They played and teased and got into loads of mischief together, normal as any litter of kits could be. The troubling times were all but unnoticed by Bramblekit, who much preferred to play a game of mossball or hang around warriors than think about wars. Rambunctious and difficult, Bramblekit was a funloving kit who disliked being told what to do, perhaps a bit too freespirited although he eventually listened to his parents when they were strict enough. Most of his kithood was fun and free of complications, aside from when Whitekit had started to show affection for an apprentice by the name of Skypaw. The oblivious Bramblekit had hardly noticed his brother starting to spend more time around her, continuing to try to spend equal time with all of his siblings as he had before. If any of them were unfazed by Whitekit's attention being stolen by the she-cat, it was him. But when Skypaw was killed in a border skirmish shortly before their apprentice ceremony, Bramblekit was there with the rest of his siblings trying to comfort their heartbroken brother. When it came down to it, though, he was still excited to earn his apprentice name and get out of the nursery.
Some would consider Bramblepaw lucky for having the mentor he received, others would think him unfortunate. Bramblepaw was apprenticed to Sorrelpelt, a she-cat who was lively and fun to be around, but utterly distracted and unfocused. It was a wonder why she was chosen as a mentor, but perhaps the leader either thought she would get her act together and become more responsible if she was in charge of training a younger cat, or there simply weren't any other mentors available so Bramblepaw was stuck with her. Anyway, needless to say they didn't get a lot of training done. Sorrelpelt would take Bramblepaw out to hunt and end up getting distracted by something or other, or decide to practice combat moves and then realize she would rather chat with a passerby cat. Bramblepaw learned slowly and sporadically, and sometimes went for several days without any one-on-one time with Sorrelpelt. As a result, much of his apprenticeship consisted of chores assigned to him by other warriors or just hanging around with the other apprentices. It is during this time that Bramblepaw started to show more of his true colors; like his mentor he wasn't keen on doing a lot of work. Much like many of the other cats in the Clan, he was only a shell of what true warriors had been in ThunderClan's days of old; he preferred to laze around, gossiping and flirting and playing with other apprentices instead of training. If it weren't for other mentors and warriors occasionally offering to take him along on patrol or hunting, he probably wouldn't have gotten any training done.
Despite not being very focused on training and thus having plenty of free time, he was rather oblivious to the goingson of his siblings around this time. He knew that Hawkpaw had gotten a new mentor and was adamant in his rivalry with Whitepaw, and that Icepaw was getting along rather well in her training. But for the most part he was on his own and while still friendly with his siblings, a bit distant as well. At their eleventh moon Bramblepaw was shocked to see Whitepaw and Hawkpaw become warriors, leaving him and Icepaw behind. This seemed to be a moment of realization for the young tom, for his two brothers, closer to each other than any of their other siblings, had gone on to be warriors and left Bramblepaw and Icepaw in the apprentices' den. Bramblepaw, not wanting to be left behind for too long and look like a loser compared to his brothers, suddenly started to put more effort into his training. He would pester Sorrelpelt and beg her to take him out training, much to the she-cat's surprise and confusion. Bramblepaw noticed Icepaw was becoming more distant around this time but scarcely had time to worry about it, for he was determined to become a warrior along with Whitefrost and Hawkclaw as soon as he could.
One moon later he finally got his wish; he and his sister were given their warrior names and were finally able to join together again in the warriors' den. But all was not perfect; soon after his ceremony ThunderClan went to battle with ShadowClan, thrusting Bramblepelt into one of his first ever real battles. The four siblings fought hard in the battles that so many cats died in, luckily emerging all still together. They weren't without loss; Whitefrost had lost his previous mentor, Bramblepelt's old mentor Sorrelpelt had been killed, and their adoptive father was dead as well. But they pulled through together, the four of them close again as they had been when they were kits. Throughout the unrest and uncertainty in ThunderClan, Bramblepelt was confident and high-spirited.
Lionheart became deputy and set to work 'improving' the Clan. Personally Bramblepelt was a bit irked by it, not seeing the point in making everyone start following the warrior code when half of the Clan didn't care for it in the first place. He wasn't about to start changing because Lionheart wanted him to, no, he remained stubborn in his believing that the warrior code was unneeded. But he did admit that things started to look brighter. Then Lionstar became leader and Whitefrost was chosen as his deputy. What a shock! His brother was now a cat of power, one to be respected among ThunderClan cats. Bramblepelt knew that Whitefrost and Hawkclaw had been shaky in their friendship so he tried to stay loyal to both of them. But he still couldn't help the sheer joy and pride of being the brother to the deputy. Cats looked up to Whitefrost as if he was the leader, and started to treat him with respect as well! It would have been a lie to say that this didn't go straight to his head.
And so the oblivious, dimwitted, flirtatious Bramblepelt became just a bit more arrogant, a bit more conceited. But that's to be expected when you're related to someone of power, right? Right. It's been a few moons since Whitestar has been leader and it's easy to see his behavior has only gotten worse. One has to wonder if he'll stay this way forever or get some sense in his head at some point. No one knows.
