Name: Shadepaw
Gender: Male
Age: 7 moons
Clan: ThunderClan
Rank: Apprentice
Mentor: Hawkclaw
Love Interest: None, Open
Kin:
Lilyfur - Mother - NPC
Darktail - Father - NPC
Thornpaw - Brother - Played by Ivy
Description: Shadepaw is a big boy, he is, much like his brother, Thornpaw. He has the same sleek gray coat as his mother, but is built like his father, muscle-bound and strong. However, Shadepaw is slightly more on the flexible and stringy side of the spectrum, unlike Thornpaw, who's a bit bulkier. It should be noted that he has exceptional stability- his long, grey tail and his tendency to keep his body low to the ground while walking contribute to this.
Then again, one would think that he hardly walks anywhere, if he isn't bounding or leaping about, often in the company of his brother Thornpaw, or with the other apprentices, green eyes flashing with mischievous delight. In fact, one of the only cats that has seen him hold himself in a serious, focused fashion is his mentor, Hawkclaw.
Personality: Although Shadepaw is Thornpaw's brother, the two of them are nearly complete opposites. Shadepaw is as excitable, inventive, and extroverted as his brother is calm, methodical, and introverted. Of the two brothers, he is the one who is more likely to draw attention to the pair, and to jump into situations with both paws forward... although he apparently hasn't got a whit of his brother's common sense.
The two of them made quite a pair growing up in the nursery, and Shadepaw valued that camaraderie, and the sense of growing up with an equal, as two parts of a whole. However, what with Thornpaw's recent appointment as the leader's apprentice, Shadepaw has felt a bit of doubt as to their relationship, and is beginning to deal with some slight feelings of inferiority.
To counter this, he's putting a quite a lot of effort into his training, in order to make sure that he can keep up. Granted... he may not be the smartest apprentice, but he makes up for it with his enthusiasm. He also has a tendency to show off quite a bit.
History:
Shadekit was born as the second kit in the litter, son of Lilyfur and Darktail. Excluding his mother, Thornkit was the first cat that Shadekit had ever met. They became fast friends almost instantly, and started getting into miniscule trouble as soon as their eyes were open.
They started getting into minuscule trouble as soon as their eyes were open, both in the nursery and around the camp. They were a perfect pair- Shadekit was the bold one, always pushing the envelope, and Thornkit was always there to make sure that he never pushed too far.
And so they spent their kithood, a new adventure every day, facing it side by side. That was, until it was time for their apprentice ceremony. Thornkit had been made the leader's apprentice, while Shadekit was given just a plain old warrior as his mentor. In retrospect, he probably shouldn't have been surprised. While it was he that usually got most of the glory and attention from their escapades, he was also the one who got most of the blame. Thornkit, by comparison, had a squeaky clean record. While Shadekit was indeed happy for his brother, he couldn't help feeling a little disappointed at being left behind, and that feeling has begun to form a slight rift between these two brothers.
Shadepaw isn't quite so sure on his new mentor, Hawkclaw, but he's resolved to work as hard as he can under him. He'll have some catching up to do, after all.
Other:
Skeleton by Ivy [x]
Roleplay Example: "Alright, now watch this!" said Shadepaw, snatching up a moss ball in his claws. He took a brief moment to check himself, and then he jumped straight up, twisting in mid-air and flicking his paw forward, sending the moss ball sailing neatly into a gathered clump at the entrance to the nursery.
"Huh? Whattaya think of that?" asked the apprentice, turning to face the gathered group of ThunderClan kits, basking in their praise. "That was cool, Shadepaw! I wisht I could jump as high as you! When do I get to be an apprentice?"
"When you're old enough. And then, you'll be able to do all the cool stuff that I can!" Shadepaw replied, smiling at all of them. And yet, on the inside, he felt somewhat empty. It... well, it just wasn't the same, hanging around with the kits instead of with Thornpaw. But... he wasn't going to fall behind. They would graduate together as warriors of equal stature, together like always.
With this thought in mind, he bounded around the kits with great energy, picking up more balls of moss in his paws. "Okay, now watch this one...."
