LAKE HISTORY
Many generations after Brambleclaw, Squirrelpaw, Tawnypelt, and Crowfeather led the four Clans to the lake, the territory eventually came what it is today. The four Clans are still there, though tales of Firestar and the great migration to the lake have faded into mere legends. Much has happened in recent years, as a series of events caused the four Clans to lose their respect for the necessity of the Warrior Code. Chaos reigned for moons, spurred on by heedless cats of all Clans. Only recently have the Clans begun to realize just how much their sacred Code is needed, and has order begun to restore itself to the forest.
The following events are a basic summary of what has happened in the forest up to and including the birth of the site. (B.B. = Before Beginning; A.B. = After Beginning.)
98 moons B.B.ThunderClan leader Lightstar dies, leaving deputy Oakwhisker to become leader. Oakwhisker names the young Hollyfur as his deputy, but dies before receiving his nine lives. Hollyfur immediately becomes leader, choosing Duskfur as her deputy. Hollystar is widely considered the last great leader of ThunderClan and her reign does not end for a good five years.
A violent border skirmish breaks out between WindClan and RiverClan. Lives are lost on both sides though no real change comes of the battle.
87 moons B.B.Plague finds its way into ShadowClan from the rats at the greenleaf Twolegplace. Many cats are killed, including Sparrowstar, and young Mudpelt becomes leader in his place. Mudstar's reign is known for the suffering of the Clan's sick, weak, and old members, who are disregarded in favour of their fighting force.
83 moons B.B.War breaks out between ThunderClan and ShadowClan amidst claims of kit-stealing. Many cats die in battle, including a ThunderClan deputy, though there was never any proof that kits were stolen and the kits in question were never seen again.
82 moons B.B.Greencough strikes WindClan, killing the popular and respected deputy Thorntooth. Fernfoot becomes deputy in his place.
72 moons B.B.WindClan's leader Gorsestar dies and Fernstar becomes the new leader.
68 moons B.B.Newleaf comes late to the forest, bringing widespread sickness and hunger. Tensions run high during this time.
43 moons B.B.Fire breaks out in ThunderClan camp and the aging leader, Hollystar, does not make it out. Though no body was found, she is almost certain to have perished in the fire. Deputy Deerfoot becomes leader, and he names Thornclaw as his deputy. Deerstar is known for his highly relaxed attitude towards inter-Clan relationships.
42 moons B.B.ThunderClan and WindClan begin a war which is set to last for twenty long moons, filled with sporadic fighting. The origin of the war was WindClan's continued prey-stealing in leafbare, and the two Clans failed to resolve it for many moons.
35 moons B.B.Mudstar, the leader of ShadowClan, is killed by a fox while hunting with his deputy, Longtooth. With her ascension to leader, Frogstripe becomes ShadowClan's deputy. Many ruthless, unnecessary battles occur over her short reign of less than three years.
31 moons B.B.Deerstar's leadership is cut short after just one year after he dies from Blackcough in a time of scarce prey. Thornclaw becomes leader, naming Dovefur as his deputy. His reign is one of cruelty, hardship and battle.
26 moons B.B.ShadowClan attacks the ThunderClan border in order to expand their territory, leading to many days of bloody, senseless battle. Warriors on both sides are lost as cats desert their Clans or die in combat. Despite the fact that ThunderClan is already locked in a long war with WindClan, reckless Thornstar allows his Clan to increase involvement. He squanders all his lives away in mere moons, losing virtually one in each battle with ShadowClan until one, fatal wound claims multiple lives. ThunderClan's new leader is Dovefur, and she names Lionheart her deputy.
23 moons B.B.Leaf-bare's bitter chill brings an outbreak of greencough to ShadowClan. Lives are claimed before it is resolved.
22 moons B.B.Fernstar and Dovestar manage to make peace after twenty moons of fighting, reconciling WindClan and ThunderClan at last.
A late bout of greencough spreads to ThunderClan, infecting the leader herself. Dovestar's condition worsens, and she loses lives fighting the illness. A fear of death takes root, and she leaves the Clan, suffering from a nervous breakdown and severe panic attacks and judging herself incapable of being a strong leader. Lionheart takes over, naming Whitefrost as deputy.
18 moons B.B.A brief battle between WindClan and ThunderClan occurs after accusations of prey-stealing. The battle is resolved quickly, and no harm is done.
15 moons B.B.ShadowClan attacks the RiverClan border, winning a piece of RiverClan land in a battle that results in the deaths of cats on both sides.
13 moons B.B.RiverClan reclaims their territory, killing ShadowClan's deputy in the attack. Rainfur is named deputy of ShadowClan.
6 moons B.B.WindClan's deputy, Breezefur, retires to the elders' den and Redfang is named deputy in her place.
4 moons B.B.ThunderClan's streak of ill-fated leaders continues as Lionstar's reign is ended prematurely in a lightning storm which leads to a badger intrusion. Whitefrost succeeds as leader, selecting Stonewhisker as deputy.
0 moons B.B.Greencough breaks out in ShadowClan, claiming the last life of their leader, Longstar. Rainfur ascends to leader, naming Ivytooth as the new deputy.
