Fernstar nodded in agreement. Whitestar had to know, and there was no way he could know at this point unless Pinestorm confessed (which she had a fairly good hunch he wouldn't) or unless Whitestar was somehow in on his horrible crime. But she doubted that. She was surprised that Redfang was acting more calm than she was, though that might be because she was just finding out about this now when he had known last night. Fernstar made herself think and focus, try to figure out the best course of action to take.

Shaking her head, she said, "Of course I won't go alone, that would just be mousebrained. Rowanwhisker and Ratfoot it is. Perhaps Cloudfur as well..." She trailed off a bit in her thinking before looking back to her deputy. "Thank you, Redfang. You need to stay here and make sure Dapplepaw is okay. She looked really shaken up."[/blockquote][/justify]

Dapplepaw... "Of course, Fernstar. I only wish I could have been more help," replied Redfang. I was useless... a failure to my name and title. Fox dung! "Stay safe. WindClan needs you." And with that, he turned and headed back into the medicine den, his shoulders slumping down as he crossed the threshold.

As he curled up in his nest, he glanced wearily over at Dapplepaw, and sighed miserably. It was all because of that stupid rabbit! If Dapplepaw hadn't- no, if he hadn't pushed her so much... none of this would have been allowed to happen. Had Cloudfur been right about him this whole time, then? No! What's done was done. He would fix it. It was how he proceeded from this that would make the difference.
