"Well... that was unexpected," said Redfang in an even tone, as he watched the little kit keel over. "Most kits I've seen would be thrilled at their first taste of rabbit. Shame." While he spoke, he dug a hole to drop the rabbit into, looking around and making a mental map so they could find it later. "It's not in my nature to just let prey escape when I've got a safe chance of catching it," he said, as he buried the rabbit. "Especially not in leaf-bare. We'll need every bit we can get to pull through. You should certainly know that."
Did Lizardheart honestly believe that Redfang had dropped a rabbit in front of them on purpose? Really, what a silly notion- now they had another complication to deal with. Although...
"I think she'll be fine," said Redfang after some consideration. "Just a little surprised and overwhelmed, but in no major danger. You could probably carry her by the scruff of her neck until she wakes up." And that would keep the both of them quiet for a little ways longer, at least.

Lizardheart If you are afraid to die, then you have already died Lizardheart sighed. "You're right." she mewed. "It's just that. Well, I didn't expect this." She sighed. "I don't know how to look after kittypet kits, even if my mother was one." she added, flicking her ears back and looking away. This whole thing was hitting far too close to home for her. She didn't ever want to face that part of her. A kittypet born mother, and a show-cat father. Whatever a show-cat was. She sighed. "Redfang, have you ever heard of something called a Show-cat?" She asked, before picking up Blink.

"As a matter of fact, I haven't," said Redfang. "Have you? In hindsight, never mind. I don't want to know- it's a kittypet thing, isn't it?" No response. Right... she had Blink in her mouth at the moment. "I don't mean to cause any offense to your mother, Lizardheart, but you've got to let the burden of being a kittypet free from your mind. You have demonstrated, many times, that you have the heart of a true WindClan cat. Don't you remember the business with the snake back in Newleaf? It took quite some courage to get through that... or a bit of idiocy. Sometimes the difference is hard to distinguish."
More than true, if his latest adventure with his apprentice had told him anything. "And on top of that, I've never met a more devoted follower of the warrior code, which is a rare and valuable thing in these times. You have a lot to be proud of. You may not have a drop of Clan blood, but I consider you to be absolutely WindClan."
The horseplace was in sight, although it was still a little ways away. "We should set her down. We'll need her to be awake for the last bit."

Lizardheart If you are afraid to die, then you have already died Lizardheart sighed, flicking her tail. She remembered that snake, it had been rather scary. Her fur bristled a little, the fear of that day passing though her body. However, since her mouth was full of Blink, she didn't say anything. She just nodded a little and followed behind him. Finally they stopped. She put Blink down. "Come on kid, wake up." She paused. Then leaned down and yowled loudly. The little kit jumped in the air, letting out a scream. "I thought that would work, you can remove your claws from my leg Blink." she said, looking down at the little black kit. "Look over there." Blink's eyes got wide. "I'm home!" She squealed. "thank you!" she purred happily. "Come on, let's take you the rest of the way." She walked with Blink up to where there was a strange thing on the entrance to the nest. Blink pushed it open and went inside. A few seconds later her head popped out and she dropped something that smelled of catmint at Lizardheart's feet. "Here you can have this. The big one gets it from the yard." Lizardheart's ears pricked up. "Where?" she asked. Blink pointed with her tail. Lizardheart nodded and padded over, after picking up the strange mouse shaped thing. "Redfang, there's catmint here." she mewed.

Redfang hung back as Lizardheart escorted Blink into the twolegplace. He didn't want to be any closer to a two-leg anything than he had to be. However, he was able to catch wind of what the two were talking about, in addition to seeing Blink deposit a curious looking object at Lizardheart's feet.
"Catmint!" Redfang exclaimed, as he caught a whiff of the strong, semi-intoxicating herb. What a stroke of luck, to find catmint here, especially now that leaf-bare was upon them. The more catmint they had, the lower the danger of cough during the season, and the more cats would survive the season. "Well... I suppose that helping out that two-leg kit was worth it after all. This is an excellent find," he said, the pleasure showing in his voice. "With that and the rabbit, I'd say that today was most productive."

Lizardheart If you are afraid to die, then you have already died "That is what my mother called Karma." she mewed, picking up the thing again. "Come on, let's go. We can tell Icewhisker about the catmint. I'm sure she'll be quite happy." She walked past Redfang, brushing against him. "She smiled at him, her fur fluffing a little. "Race you back."

"What on earth do you call that?" asked Redfang, bemused at the sudden whimsical actions of this warrior. Catmint was a good thing, yes, but not worth being quite so happy about. "I don't think so. We need to collect that rabbit, first. And besides... I'd win," he said, flashing a bit of a smile back at her. "We should head back, of course. That patrol took way longer than it was supposed to."

Lizardheart If you are afraid to die, then you have already died Lizardheart, who had gotten a nose-full of catmint, was quite hyper. She stopped and turned around drawing her tail across her face. She giggled and ran towards him, playful as a kit. She stopped in front of him. "Okay." She mewed. "Though it would be fun." she paused. "Icewhisker will be happy to know about the catmint." She added, purring loudly. She paused. "You know Karma. If you do good things, good will happen to you. If you do bad things, bad will happen to you. Or at least that's how I understand it." She smiled. "Mother taught me about it, it's something her parents taught her you see." She purred more loudly and batted at him. "Come on, let's get going."
