Welcome, gentle guests and old friends, to Looking Up, the literate roleplaying site based in the lake setting of Erin Hunter's Warriors series! Taking place many moons after Firestar's time, our story revolves around the four original Clans, who have now settled quite comfortably into their lake territories. Or have they? There will always be conflict between the Clans, and recent moons have heralded dark times ahead. But you needn't worry about that quite yet. Please come in, look around, and delve into the mystery and intrigue that is Looking Up: A Warriors RP...
Just mere seasons ago, the Clans were undergoing a time of great turmoil. The Warrior Code, the glue that holds the Clans together, was being disregarded at every turn. Kittypets and loners were being welcomed into the Clans, inter-Clan relationships and dissension were commonplace. It wasn't until great fighting broke out between all four Clans that things finally began to change.
After the great battles that broke out between all four Clans, they were left tattered and broken. Once bloated from the many cats they had allowed to join their ranks, they were now shrunken, their warriors having either died or fled in fear. Those that remained were the only ones that could rebuild the Clans to what they once were, so that they could once again shine with their former glory...
November 19th, 2010 Greetings, members of Looking Up! For those who were still not aware, the site's very first newsletter has been posted in the News & Updates section. In addition, November's activity check has now been posted, so make sure to head over and post there as well.
October 20th, 2010 Just a quick reminder to all members - everyone must post in the activity checks which are posted each month. That goes for staff as well. If you don't post but are actually active, it makes it difficult to know whose cats should be taken away and whose shouldn't, so I'd like to request that you remember to check to see if a new check has started each month. Cheers.
September 20th, 2010 As of today, Looking Up's very first gathering has officially begun! If your cat has been chosen to attend this month, feel free to make a post. For those who couldn't attend; don't worry, there's always next moon! The Clan leaders have a lot to announce, especially ShadowClan, which seems to be short at least one cat this moon...
September 4th, 2010 Guess what, duckies! The site's very first activity check has been posted, so make sure to head on over and post there so that we know that you're staying active. For those who do not know, the activity check is located in the News and Announcements board, along with every other thread of site-wide importance. Make sure you're checking it whenever a new post is made there!
August 31st, 2010 Leader, deputy, and medicine cat tryouts are officially over! Thank you to everyone who participated, and congratulations to the winners of the various positions. Now that all four Clans have their leadership safely organized, we can finally begin focusing on the actual roleplay. Have fun bringing those high-rankers into the rp!
August 16th, 2010 Today, exactly one week after Looking Up's opening, we finally open the boards for roleplaying! Feel free to let your creativity run wild and make a thread or two for your cats to frolick in. Keep on making cats though, and make sure to invite anyone you know who might be interested in joining us. Just because roleplay is open doesn't mean that we shouldn't gain some new faces!
August 9th, 2010 It's the day that we have all been waiting for! Looking Up is officially OPEN! Deputies for the leaders of ThunderClan, ShadowClan, and WindClan are currently needed, the position of RiverClan leader is open, and medicine cats of all Clans are available. Read the rules, make your cats, and have fun jumping into roleplay!
August 1st, 2010 Just over a week to go, and nearly everything is ready. We have a complete forum, as well as some new refugees members, and a few completed characters too. ThunderClan's leader and RiverClan's deputy join ShadowClan's in the accepted section, so we eagerly await WindClan's leader in time for the grand opening.
July 9th, 2010 It is exactly one month until opening day! Threads have been created, side-tables are filled, coding has undergone minor changes, and the scenario has been decided. With ShadowClan's leader completed, all that needs to happen before opening day is the creation of WindClan and ThunderClan's leaders, and that of RiverClan's deputy.
June 25th, 2010 Looking Up is well underway, and on track to being open and ready to go by the planned opening date of August 9th! All the boards have been created, the skin is done, and the rules have begun to be posted. All that needs to happen now is the filling in of the remaining side tables and the posting of the rest of the rules, and we will be ready to focus solely on the content of the site!

Year one
Prey low
Breeding | Birthing
The clinging chill of leaf-bare lingers on, sinking its brittle claws into the forest as the weather grows colder. Leaf-fall has truly gone now; only the evergreens add some hints of greenery to an otherwise stark and barren landscape. Prey has become scarcer, driven underground by the cold, and flurries of snow and ice have become more common. And in the center of the territories, the lake has frozen into a sheet of frigid white ice.

This month's recognition goes to Heathclaw's cat Lightheart. Heath has been an active part of the site since it started, and has a truly engaging, unique character in Lightheart, the goofy ShadowClan tom who almost everyone knows. His threads are both convincing and amusing to read; congratulations to Heath and Lightheart both!
Looking Up was brought to life and is run by Sporelett, Yellowstar, Amber, Yoko and Cai. All post content within this site belongs to Looking Up unless otherwise stated. The Warriors series, setting, and theme was created by Erin Hunter and published by HarperCollins, and we do not claim ownership of that material. This stone hollow, carved out by Twolegs long ago, is enclosed by towering cliffs of sheer stone. The walls of the camp provide excellent defense from attack, but are high enough in places to be lethal to any cat who slips over the edge. Small caves dot the perimeter, and the main entrance is protected by a thick thorn tunnel.
Located near the edge of the lake, this huge tree, also called Sky Oak, is a good place to find prey. Apprentices often come here to climb its towering branches, and there is an old rabbit burrow underneath its roots.
This old nest, long-since abandoned by its Twolegs, is a good place for prey and an excellent source of herbs, most notably catmint. However, there is an ominous, eerie feeling about the structure, which seems ready to collapse at any moment.
A shallow depression free of trees or rocks, this flat hollow is covered with soft, cushioning moss, making it the ideal place to train battle skills without risking injury.
A large, grassy clearing next to the stream that borders ShadowClan's territory. It's a good spot for prey, though Twolegs are sometimes found here during greenleaf.
This stream serves as the border with WindClan. It runs from the Moonpool and cuts across a patch of forest before reaching the lake, and the ownership of this piece of woodland has long been a source of conflict.
A wide, shallow dip in the ground that is hidden from seeking eyes by cloaking brambles and the low-hanging branches of surrounding trees. Inside the camp, the branches form a low canopy that is good protection against the elements. A tumble of boulders near the edge of camp allows cats to view the canopy from above.
Most of ShadowClan territory is dry pine forest, in which reptiles and other prey can be found. The marshier areas near the stream are a good place to hunt frogs.
Located near the ThunderClan border, this area is populated by Twolegs and their dogs during the warm moons of greenleaf, and is best avoided during this time. It is an excellent place to hunt during the colder moons, when Twolegs aren't as common.
Uncomfortably close to ShadowClan's camp is a single Twoleg nest, which is populated only by one Twoleg. Fortunately the Twoleg doesn't venture away from its nest very much, but caution is advised when hunting near here.
A long, wooden structure that abruptly ends over the lake. Twolegs sometimes tie their boats to it, and the shore near here is marshy and good for hunting.
This Twoleg-made path is the border between ShadowClan and RiverClan. It ends at a large Halfbridge, which Twolegs congregate at during the warmer moons. They sometimes leave behind scraps of food that can attract rats.
A shallow scoop in the ground, WindClan's camp is sheltered from the wind but open to the sky. Though most WindClan cats prefer to sleep outside under the stars, they can retreat to burrows left by foxes and badgers if the weather is bad.
Most of WindClan's territory is made of of flat, windy moorland. There is little cover here besides the heather, so cats have to stay on their toes if they want to catch the rabbits that are their main source of prey.
Standing next to the stream that borders ThunderClan's territory, this small patch of forest is the only such area in WindClan's entire territory. Over the moons, WindClan cats have learned to use it as a secondary prey source when rabbits are scarce.
Located next to Horseplace, the little Twolegplace consists of just a few Twoleg nests surrounded by large wooden fences. A few kittypets and dogs roam here.
A large, fenced area where the Twolegs allow their horses to run free, Horseplace borders RiverClan territory. A few cats live in the barn that is located here.
RiverClan's camp is located in a triangle of land where two streams merge into one. It is protected by willow trees and various clumps of undergrowth that are scattered around, and the nearby streams provide easy access to water and prey.
This stream is joined by a smaller stream near the camp to form a large, prey-rich brook. It is RiverClan's main source of fish, and water voles are also found here.
The parts of RiverClan that are not marsh or stream are lush grassland, dotted with the occasional stand of trees. When fish are scarce, this is a good place to hunt for mice and other land-dwelling prey.
This wide, flat stretch of grass has been flattened by many generations of young paws as RiverClan's apprentices learned their skills here, battle, hunting, or otherwise.
This broad expanse of wet, soggy ground covers large areas of the lake shore, bordering WindClan where it meets Horseplace. It is an excellent place to find frogs and snakes, as well as small fish and many kinds of herbs.
Though it is more difficult to hunt in the lake than it is at the edge of a stream, RiverClan cats have learned to use this broad expanse of water as a source of prey. This strip of sandy beach stretches from the marsh to the ShadowClan border.
Nestled high in the foothills that surround WindClan's territory, the Moonpool is reached by following the stream that divides ThunderClan and WindClan. This perfectly circular pool lies in the center of a smooth stone hollow, and a small trickle of water flows down rocks at its edge to stir its starry waters.
Located just off the shore of RiverClan's territory is a small island where all four Clans meet every full moon. Bushes and trees provide cover and safety for all, while the leaders speak from the branches of a spreading oak in the center of a large clearing. An old, fallen tree trunk provides a safe way for cats of all ages to reach the island.
